Director's Information
Mr. Ivan Leavitt has taught for 21 years and is teaching his 19th year as the Director of Instrumental Music at North Union Local Schools. His duties as director of the North Union Instrumental Music Department include 5th Grade Band, 6th Grade Band, 7th & 8th Grade Band, Middle School Music Technology, High School Marching Band, High School Pep Band, and High School Concert Band. Other classes that Mr. Leavitt has taught at North Union include: High School Jazz Band, High School Choir, 7th Grade Study Skills, 8th Grade Study Skills, 7th Grade Typing, and 8th Grade General Music.
In 1988 Mr. Leavitt graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education (K-12). Upon graduating from Mount Vernon Nazarene University he began employment at Elgin Local Schools as the high school band director. Mr. Leavitt was employed at Elgin Local Schools for 3 years before moving to North Union to become the Director of Bands in 1991.
Mr. Leavitt holds membership in the professional organizations, MENC (Music Educators National Conference) and OMEA (Ohio Music Educators Association) as well as OEA (Ohio Education Association) and NEA (National Education Association).
Mr. Leavitt resides in Marion, Ohio with his wife and 6 children. Their family attends the Richwood Church of Christ in Richwood, Ohio.
